Santa Clara Polo Club will be well represented at the 2016 Port Mayaca Holiday Family tournament (December 27-31) with Luis Escobar and his sons Lucas and Nico. The three Escobars will be joined by Brandon Plunkett as they join the six-team field in a Tuesday, December 27th start.
Joining Santa Clara in tournament competition will be HorseWare (Barry Finnegan, Tom McGuinness, Hugo Lloret and TBA); Banbury Cross (Breanna Gunnell, Nelson Gunnell, Tenzin Tognini and Marcos Bignoli); Patagones (Joaquin Avendano, Benjamin Avendano, Santiago Wulff and Santiago Avendano); Taylor Hill Farm (Sarah Martin, C. J. Martin, Marcos Onetto and Jason Wates): and Port Mayaca Polo Club (Finn Secunda, Max Secunda, Stevie Orthwein and TBA).
The tournament is scheduled to get underway on Tuesday with 12:30PM games being played simultaneously between Banbury Cross and Patagones while Santa Clara and Taylor Creek Farm face-off on another field at the club. At 2PM, Port Mayaca Polo Club will battle HorseWare.
Fourth place will be determined by the team who loses their first game of the tournament by the smallest margin (net goals, then gross goals, then shoot-out, if necessary). The bottom two teams from Day 1 will play for the New Year’s Eve Cup.
Semifinals are slated to take place on Thursday, December 27th with games at 10:30AM and Noon. On Saturday, December 31st, the New Year’s Eve Cup final will take place at 10:30AM with the final of the Holiday Family Cup closing out the day with an 11:30 contest.
